Blog makeover!!! I’m so excited to announce the new look of my website! Although there is so many more changes and updates I have mixing in my head, I’m proud of the new look and improved identity!
Here is a before & after of my home page.
Here are 4 things I did to rebrand Life of an Island City Girl!
This is what really made the difference! An old co-worker helped me out on this one! She’s an amazing graphic designer and she put together a look for me based on how I described my brand’s identity. She created my beautiful logo, signature, overlays and background. Looking to step up your game on your blog? Kawelina Gomes will be a huge help! This is her side business, so please make sure you have a generous timeline to get things done.
TAGLINE: Next came tag lines. It seems so simple when you look at others, but coming up with something on my own took hours! I wanted a few words that would categorize the majority of my posts. I started with: Travel, Fashion, Adventure, Nightlife, DIYs, Food. That pretty much summed up I write about, but it’s not cute or innovative by any means. When I came up with the idea to use one common first letter, trust and believe almost every combination was tried. After debating and some advice I came up with a tagline that I absolutely adore! Carry-On. Celebrations. Cuisine. Cute things.
MENUS: These still could use some work, but hey, now I know how to create sub menus and sub, sub menus. It probably sounds pretty dumb, not knowing how to do anything on my website, but I really didn’t take the time to learn. While rebranding, youtube videos were watched, blogs about blogs were read and I really took the time to try, make mistakes and try again!
WIDGETS: Before this rebranding journey, I did not touch the widgets. But just like the menus, I learned what widgets would look cute on my side bar and what one didn’t match! After a bunch of tries and deletes and re-tries, my new side bar was created!!!
Now that I’m new and improved, expect more from me! I’m inspired to post more and share my journey of my Life of an Island City Girl!
P.S. I’m so excited about my first signature use!
